Uganda

Political journey

Independent from Britain in 1962, Uganda endured the brutal regimes of Idi Amin and Milton Obote before Yoweri Museveni took power in 1986. He has ruled since, removing term and age limits, and maintaining a stable but closely controlled political system. Uganda hosts one of the world’s largest refugee populations.
