Political journey

Formerly Rhodesia, Zimbabwe became independent in 1980 under Robert Mugabe, whose land seizures and economic mismanagement led to hyperinflation and collapse. He was ousted by the army in 2017, and Emmerson Mnangagwa took over. The ZANU-PF party has ruled since independence, and elections have repeatedly been criticized by observers.
