Andrei Sakharov

Soviet physicist and dissident, 1921 to 1989

Helped build the Soviet hydrogen bomb, then became the country’s best-known dissident, campaigning for human rights and arms control and winning the 1975 Nobel Peace Prize.

Andrei Sakharov sits in the right-libertarian part of the Caucus economy and liberty compass: slightly free market and strongly libertarian. The clearest positions are strongly libertarian on liberty and authority, strongly peace-first on war and peace and leaning globalist on nation.
