Han Fei

Chinese Legalist philosopher, c. 280 to 233 BCE

Argued that strict, impartial laws with clear rewards and punishments, not moral example, keep a state orderly, giving the Qin dynasty its philosophy of rule.

Han Fei sits in the right-authoritarian part of the Caucus economy and liberty compass: centered on economy and strongly authoritarian. The clearest positions are strongly authoritarian on liberty and authority, strongly institutional on institutions and leaning strength-first on war and peace. The profile is close to the middle on economy and environment.
